Cleaning your Home with Vinegar

There are lots of different kinds of cleaners that work well, such as soft scrub and serena. But when it comes to general cleaning most people go for cleaner fluids. Although many people use brand-name household cleaners, the oldest cleaning product used today is vinegar.

It doesn’t have any added chemicals and offers an eco-friendly alternative that won’t harm you, your family, or your home. This natural cleaner can be used for all sorts of things, from cleaning windows to removing tough stains from clothing. Using vinegar, over time, you can save on the extra cost of brand-name cleaners, and your budget and earth will thank you too.

So, why and where should you use it?

Cleaning the Kitchen with Vinegar

Dealing with fridge stains? Remove odors from your refrigerator by filling a spray bottle with three cups (500 ml) of water and six tablespoons (60 ml) of vinegar. The acetic acid in vinegar is naturally antibacterial, so it’s safe for use on food surfaces.

What about your sink? If you notice your sink is draining slowly, there’s an easy fix. Pour down a mixture of 1 litre of boiling water, 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup white vinegar. Cover the drain with a stopper and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Finish off by flushing down some boiling water and your sink should be good as new!

Laundry Solutions

Foul smells from clothing? Completely natural, vinegar is able to completely eliminate odour in all of your clothes – and is also able to clean most stains. Freshen up your laundry without harsh chemicals. To eliminate stinky towels and mildew-ridden clothes, try adding half a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle of your laundry machine. The natural vinegar smell will be gone by the time your next load is done.

Whiten Clothes! If your white clothes seem to be getting dingier over time, simply soak them overnight in hot water with some vinegar, then toss the items into the washing machine. This will leave your clothes bright and whiter than ever. It really works!

Other Uses In-Home for Vinegar

Aside from being a favorite garnish for many dishes, vinegar can be used other places.

Floor cleaner tested and true. Want your hardwood floors to look their best? Fill up a bucket with one gallon water and one-half cup white vinegar, and then scrub away. Before you begin, though, test the mixture on an inconspicuous area of the floor.

Great, cheap glass cleaner. It’s an all-natural, inexpensive alternative to commercial glass cleaners. After you finish cleaning up, walk outside and wave goodbye to your windows as you watch them sparkle! Best part – you can use the same spray bottle over and over again.
